And we have our first major upset of the NFL playoffs. The streaking New York Giants went into Lambeau Field as an 8 point underdog and won outright. Handily. The defending Super Bowl Champions, who went 15-1 in the regular season, exit the playoffs without winning a single game.
The Giants now head to Candlestick to take on the San Francisco 49ers who beat the New Orleans Saints. As soon as the Giants-Packers game ended, TheGreek.com opened a line: San Francisco (-1) with a total of 45. Keep in mind, the advance number, released late last week prior to this weekend’s games, had the 49ers as a 3 point favorite against the Giants. But given the Giants 17 point victory over the Packers, the opening line moved from that advance line.
But it didn’t move for long. As soon as San Francisco (-1) was released, early bettors pounded the 49ers. Now, San Francisco is a 3 point favorite at most books. The total has been bet down as well as it’s now at 43.5 in most spots.
Remember, this is a rematch of a Week 10 affair. Then, the Giants went to Candlestick as a 3.5 point underdog (total 43) and lost 27-20 in a tight contest.
