The Houston Texans have made a remarkable run to the NFL playoffs despite suffering crippling injuries throughout the season. The Baltimore Ravens, meanwhile, cruised to a 12-4 regular season record earning themselves a first round bye. Given their 8-0 record at home this year and with TJ Yates starting at QB for Houston, oddsmakers opened Baltimore as a 7 point favorite.
Money came in on the Ravens throughout the week and has driven the line up to Baltimore (-7.5) at every major sports book. 57% of the bets are on Baltimore while 70% of the bets are on the over (37). The Ravens are a pedestrian 8-8 ATS (4-4 ATS at home) this year and 9 of their 16 games went over the total. The Texans are 10-6 ATS this season and 11 of their 16 games went under the total. Of course, you can thank Wade Phillips for much of that.
These two teams met earlier in Week 6 when Houston visited Baltimore as a 7 point underdog. Matt Schaub was still the starter for Houston then but it didn’t matter – the Ravens won by 15 and easily covered the spread. That game had a total of 44.5 and it stayed under the total (29-14 final).
