The nation let out a collective sigh of disgust on Saturday as a slew of Rajon Rondo turnovers, missed shots and complete lack of LBJ defense led to a Heat win  Eastern Conference finals.  Those that hate King James and the evil empire should take solace in the fact that bookmakers have the Heat as underdogs in the Finals.  After opening at a price of -155 the  Thunder are now weighing in at roughly a -165 series price which leads to an implied win probability of 62.26%.  The odds do fluctuate a bit from book to book, so we broke down series prices from some of the major players (as of 8:30 EST 06/11/12):
This is the first series of the playoffs that Miami has been the underdog. ¬†Of course, with the Thunder coming in as the¬†favorite, it’s no¬†surprise¬†that KD is the leader to win the series MVP. ¬†Here are the current MVP lines from 5Dimes:
The odds skew towards the bigger stars on each team, ¬†Durant ¬†at -135 and ¬†James at +110. ¬†While Lebron has looked dominant, remember that during last year’s Finals performance, Wade averaged¬†26.5 points and 7.0 rebounds, while James averaged just17.8 points, and 7.1 rebounds.
So for all of you saddened by the Heat’s win (and cover) vs. Boston in the Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals, have no fear as at least you have the bookmakers on your side for this series.
