Last year the Cavaliers’ Kyrie Irving (+550) took home the Rookie of the Year honors with little to no competition (thanks to a mid-season injury to Ricky Rubio.) In the process he beat out favorite Derrick Williams (+450) and Jimmer Fredette (+500).

The Greek has released odds for the 2012-13 season, and not suprisingly, they’re skewed towards one player in particular, Anthony Davis (+350):

Andrew Nicholson+2500
Anthony Davis+350
Austin Rivers+2000

While Davis has looked good, it should be noted that only once in the past 5 years has the favorite actually won ROY honors. This was 5 years ago when Kevin Durant (+150) won in the 2007-2008 season. Here’s a look at past favorites and winner’s odds:

If you can see past Davis, some of the more intriguing value plays are:

  • Damian Lillard (+800) – Had arguably the best summer league performance from any rookie and has never had a problem scoring.
  • Jeremy Lamb (+1000) – The Rockets failed to land D12 and will need someone to step up. Lamb looks more than just servicable.
  • Andrew Nicholson (+2500) – With Howard out of the way, the more seasoned Nicholson could put numbers right away.
