Thursday night will feature two teams heading in completely different directions. South Florida has opened the season with a 4 game winning streak, while Pittsburgh has blown two leads for two consecutive losses. The Bulls have a strong passing game, while the Panthers struggle to throw the football. The only top 5 pick not to cover – the most bet team of the week no less – was the Philadelphia Eagles at -6.5. In legendary coach Joe Paterno’s first game back on the sidelines, his team had total control over every facet of the game. The Eastern Michigan Eagles never really got going on either side of the ball, and their offense in particular was stifled by the Nittany Lions defense.
Each team comes into the game looking to prove their doubters wrong; Dallas is hoping to establish some form of consistency after having an up and down start to the season. Washington is hoping to be recognized as legitimate contenders in the NFC East. The Redskins have started off the season with two consecutive wins, but the naysayers argue their journeyman QB cannot maintain this over a full season.
